U4GM Helps Optimize Diablo 4 Double-Damage Affixes

When Diablo 4 starts hitting harder, gear decisions matter more than they first appear. A few points on one affix can decide whether a build reaches its key breakpoint or falls short. That is especially true for Paladins using the Supplication Ancestral Unique Sword, where Brandish can reach a guaranteed double-damage effect. Before spending gold and Obducite, it is worth checking the available D4 items and comparing their starting rolls. A little planning here can save several expensive upgrade attempts later.

Why the starting roll matters

Many players see a decent percentage on a new sword and begin upgrading straight away. That can be a costly mistake. Brandish can roll at roughly 47-65 percent, but a mid-range value may not have enough room to reach the desired 100 percent. A 55 percent roll, for example, may climb to about 68 percent after full Quality improvements. Even when the right Masterworking boost lands on that affix, the result can sit near 96 percent. It looks close, yet the effect still is not consistently active. The smarter move is to calculate the required base value first.

Reading the upgrade path

To work out the threshold, begin with the finished target and move backwards. Include the Quality increase, then account for a possible Masterworking enhancement on Brandish. Do not assume every boost will land where you want, though. The whole point is to judge whether the item has enough potential before materials disappear. A useful checklist is.

Confirm the affix's natural minimum and maximum values.
Apply the expected Quality increase to the starting roll.
Leave room for the strongest relevant Masterworking improvement.
Compare the projected figure with the 100 percent requirement.

What the Supplication example shows

Testing the numbers from the target downward suggests that roughly 59 percent is the sensible minimum starting roll for this Brandish setup. Below that point, even favourable upgrades may leave the sword short. At 59 percent, the item has a realistic path towards the required threshold, provided the Quality levels are completed and the important enhancement reaches Brandish. Nothing is guaranteed during the crafting process, so a higher starting roll still feels better if one is available.

Use the same method elsewhere

This approach works for more than one sword or one class. Whenever a build depends on an exact percentage, check the starting value, the available scaling, and the cost of each upgrade before committing. You will quickly notice that a supposedly ordinary drop can be a better project than a flashy item with poor numbers. Keeping a small record of useful breakpoints also makes future decisions faster. When you are ready to compare more options, browsing D4 items for sale can help you find a stronger base before using your own resources.
