BTC-E 2014: the custom hash and what works on it

For anyone stuck on the BTC-E 2014 dump: most accounts use a custom 4096-iteration format (prefix 4096$12$4$ + 16-char salt + 64 hex digest). Standard hashcat modes don't match it out of the box - I tested sha256/sha512 iterated, pbkdf2, hmac and salt combinations, all negative. BUT older accounts have plain sha1 (mode 100) or sha512 (1700) and those crack fine. Also note the balance column sums to ~548k BTC overall, matching the DOJ seizure numbers.
