Brazil’s 2026 presidential election is heading to a second round after neither candidate secured a majority. Right-wing candidate Flávio Bolsonaro finished slightly ahead of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the first round, with about 47% against 45%.
The runoff is scheduled for October 25, 2026, in what is expected to be a closely contested election that could shape Brazil’s political direction for the next four years.
